When bad things happen it’s easy to spend way too much wondering about why. Yes, you have to analyze your actions, but you really can’t afford to dwell on the negative events that have led to your demise. Maybe you lost a job, or got sick and piled up huge bills. It can – and does -happen to people all the time. You should not feel ashamed because of a temporary setback.

Heck, even if it is something you caused, you still have to let it go. Maybe you’ve been drinking too much and making bad decisions. Well, as long as you’ve decided to put yourself back on the straight and narrow, you don’t need to beat yourself up needlessly.

If you’ve been struggling for awhile, you may have gotten out of the habit of imaging a better life. That’s a bad idea. Now is the right time to set new goals, and big ones at that. Your subconscious can not get excited about small goals. Instead you need to make your goals impressive! No one can get excited about a small goal. Saying that your goal is to earn an extra $5 a week or to pay off one of your bills a year early just doesn’t inspire awe! Instead, set your goals higher. I plan on making six figures in two years. Or I will have $200,000 in my bank account in three years. Don’t worry about whether the goals sounds far fetched or not.

It should.

Since you’ve never earned a fraction of that money, your rational mind will have a hard time believing you can do it. However, your subconcious mind will take you at your word.

If you haven’t used your imagination in awhile, don’t be surprised if you’re rusty. Just spark it back up and try thinking of all the things that you would love to happen in your life. Try to spend at least a part of your day looking forward, while getting rid of the parts where you look back. This is a way to remind yourself that the best is yet to come.

There will be plenty of time for fun. But when you’re supposed to be working, you need to work. The most successful people generally work very hard – and very smart.
